Canadian Mental Health

The Canadian Mental Health Association for Sudbury-Manitoulin should known early in the new year which night its staff will keep the office open for evening hours.

The agency conducted a three-month pilot project this fall providing extended hours three nights a week.

Manager of Administrative Services, Chantal Makela says there was always activity on those nights the Elm Street office was kept open late.

The extended hours pilot was limited to just the intake process, so individuals could gather information, connect with the agency, look for referrals into programming or schedule appointments.

They’re still calculating results and then Makela says they’ll determine which evening was most popular with clients before changing the hours permanently.

The change was meant to provide flexibility and options for those clients unable to attend daytime hours.

Makela says the Sudbury-Manitoulin site at 111 Elm Street for the Canadian Mental Health Association has now returned to its regular hours of 8:30am-4:30pm, for now.
