The city welcomed Ron Foster who will officially start his five-year term as Auditor General tomorrow.

Foster is a former senior manager at KPMG and was the AG in Oshawa from 2006 to 2013.

He says he doesn’t have a specific order of business but will be working closely with staff and council.

Foster says in order for his role to stay relevant, it won’t be just about volume of work as much as it is about qaulity of work and areas they target.

Foster says his reports will be very public friendly with clear direction.

Just a few cities in Ontario still have an Auditor General, Toronto and Ottawa being two, the position is in place to hold administrators accountable over public funds.

In Sudbury the position was created in Sudbury in 2009 which was held by Brian Bigger until he took a leave of absence to run for Mayor.
