The Advanced Medical Research Institute of Canada (AMRIC) is searching for a new CEO and Scientific Director after Dr. Francisco Diaz-Mitoma handed in his resignation effective immediately on Friday.

The news comes exactly one week after he led the way in breaking ground on the research arm of Health Sciences North’s 15 million dollar, 14 thousand square-foot facility on Walford Road.

He was named CEO and Scientific Director when the medical facility opened it’s doors in 2011.

AMRIC’s Board of Directors say they will not comment any further and have put CEO of HSN, Dr. Denis Roy in charge of operations and Dr. Janet McElhaney will step in as Interim Scientific Director.
