For the 27th year in a row, red ribbons will be found across Sudbury as Action Sudbury launched it’s Red Ribbon Campaign to end impaired driving.

The new slogan for the campaign is, Drive Aware, Not Impaired.”

It’s been over a year since Jaymie Hancock lost her brother D.J. Hancock who was killed by a drunk driver, and she says it’s still hard to talk about it but it’s something she must do.

Pedersen says those who publicly speak about losing a loved one to drinking and driving helps the cause and called them hero’s.

Despite efforts, police stats say that impaired driving rose four percent in Sudbury last year.

Action Sudbury encourages residents to tie a red ribbon on their vehicle to commit to a holiday season of sober driving.
