The former interim city C-A-O says during his time in that job, he witnessed examples of fear, mistrust and disrespect at City Hall.

In published reports, Bob Johnston called it the most toxic and dysfunctional work environment he has ever been involved with.

Johnston was also critical of fire services expenditures, which he said were spiraling out of control.

Mayor Brian Bigger says he was disappointed with Johnston’s comments.

He issued a statement Thursday night saying every decision made by himself and council has been made in the best interest of the community.

Bigger says Johnston was not fired, but was returned to his job as CEO of the Greater Sudbury Airport in September after only five months in the CEO position.
