Many Sudbury residents, including local politicians, took part in two events Sunday to show support for France.

First the French flag was raised in the courtyard of Tom Davies Square.

This was to mourn the tragic loss of life in Paris and to promote peace.

Then a Silent Vigil was held at the Cenotaph at nearby Memorial Park.

About 100 people were in attendance.

The vigil was organized by Jean-Charles Cachon, Sudbury’s honorary Consul of France, who is a professor at Laurentian University.

Roughly 200 French citizens, now call Sudbury home, and still have family and geographical ties to their home country.
