The Edgar Burton Christmas Food Drive and the Kids Helping Kids campaigns are underway.

700 local business and 40 schools are expected to help collect 100 tonnes of food for what has become one of the biggest food drives in Canada.

Edgar’s wife Sharon Burton says it’s a joy to see how the community rallies around the cause.

Since it began 28 years ago, the food drive has collected more than 855 tonnes of food.

President of the Sudbury Food Bank Greg Fontaine says this drive brings in as much as a quarter to a third of the food needed for the whole year.
