14 workers at the Rona hardware store on Barrydowne Road have been locked out and are now walking a picket line.

The workers are members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

President of Local 175 Shawn Haggerty says one of the outstanding issues during the contract negotiations is the employer wanting to force workers with seniority to work Sundays.

Haggerty says under the Employment Standards Act, those retail employees hired before September 4th, 2001 have the right to refuse to work on Sundays, and this applies to a number of employees at this store.

No new talks have been scheduled.
