Although they’re not usually a factor in why students choose a particular school, Laurentian is still thrilled with this year’s McLean’s magazine rankings for Canadian universities.

The post secondary school climbed four spots to 11th overall in undergraduate satisfaction…and showed improvements on other factors like medical science research grants, faculty awards, and the reputational survey.

But LU President, Dominic Giroux, is always cautious about the rankings, saying rankings help sell magazines, but they don’t factor into why a student chooses a specific university.

He says any changes to LU’s strategic plan are based on data from a national student engagement survey conducted every three years….not the McLean’s rankings.
