2nd Building Of NWSC To Be Completed In November

The main building for the $4.6-million Northern Water Sports Centre is finished, but the second structure is still going up.

That portion, which will house the boats for the Sudbury Rowing Club and the Dragon Boat Festival, should be finished later in November.

Chair Thomas Merritt says he’s okay with the slight delay.

That’s because he’d rather see the project done right so the centre will be in the community for decades to come.

The main building includes a shared facility between the three clubs, a banquet hall and boat storage for the Sudbury Canoe Club.

Merritt hopes to hold an official opening later this fall, with an open house next spring, to start the 2016 paddling season.

The NWCS is located on the southwest corner of Ramsey Lake, beside Science North.
