More people were forced to draw unemployment last month in Sudbury, according to the latest figures from Statistics Canada.

Our local jobless rate was bumped to 7.3% in September from 7% the month before.

Across the country, the national unemployement rate increased just one-tenth of a point to 7.1%.

Twelve-thousand jobs were added to the economy, but more people entered the labour force, driving the rate up.

In the list of cities measured, Sudbury is among eight with high unemployment rates.
