Unique Cancer Surgery Now Offered At H-S-N

Surgeons at Health Sciences North performed a new type of advanced procedure which helped them get at certain cancer tumours more precisely.

Colorectal Surgeon Dr Antonio Caycedo and his team performed the transanal total mesorectal eecision for the first time at HSN recently.

He says it provides minimal incisions, less pain, less time and better results for patients with rectal cancer.

There’s only a handful of other hospitals in Canada which are offering this type of challenging surgery.

Caycedo spent time in Europe for the specialized training to perform this procedure, which is now offered at HSN.
