Breast cancer will be on the minds of Canadians this weekend as many take part in the largest single-day event in support of breast cancer initiatives.

Locally, there will be a sea of pink working its way through streets in New Sudbury, including Barrydowne Road, Maley Drive and several residential streets around Cambrian College, for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

According to Fundraising Run Director in Sudbury, Justin Burns, they hope to raise $180,000 from the local event and have over 1,000 participants.

In the past 18-years the Sudbury run has helped raise $3.3 million for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Money goes towards breast cancer research, education and advocacy.

In Sudbury, the CIBC Run for the Cure goes at 10 am Sunday morning starting and ending at Cambrian College.
