The topic around the water cooler at work today will more than likely be the rumbling felt across Greater Sudbury last night.

The first happened at 9:06pm, then eight minutes later at 9:14om.

Some residents who posted to social media reported a third minor tremor a few minutes later.

According to Earthquake Canada these were seismic events which registered 2.8 and 1.8 respectively on the Richter Scale.

The epicentre was about 50-kilometers East of Sudbury, just northeast of Markstay.

Before official details were confirmed, many had speculated the rumbles were blasts from local underground mines, which are typical around Greater Sudbury.
