Explosives experts from the military were called in yesterday afternoon after a grenade was found on the lawn of a home on Struthers Street.

Greater Sudbury Police closed one block of the road between Regent and Prete Street during the investigation.

A three-house radius was evacuated as a precaution.

The National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit arrived in Sudbury last night to remove the grenade, and they determined the grenade was not active.

It’s the second time in less than two weeks a grenade was found.

One was found in a home on Frood Road September 15th, during renovations and required military experts to remove it as well.

Police say the investigation continues, as they look into how the grenade ended up on the property.
