Greater Sudbury Police Services has charged two of its own after a fraud investigation.

After getting complaints from the company insurance provider, the GSPS Professional Standards Bureau started an investigation last month into the activities of two officers.

Both were charged criminally this morning and have been assigned non-operational duties while the case makes its way through the courts.

Charged with Fraud under $5,000 and Uttering False Documents are Constables Kathryn Howard and Christopher Labreche.

They’re both scheduled to appear in court October 28th.

In a statement to the media, Police Chief Paul Pederson says he is extremely disappointed and assures the community GSPS is accountable and transparent.
