A new proposal from the Ontario Fire Fighters’ Association “is like playing Russian roulette with the public”.

That’s what reps with CUPE’s paramedic group say since the proposal would allow fire-fighters with 20-hours of trianing to respond to emergency medical calls.

Paramedics from across the province, including a group from Sudbury, will be in the nation’s capitol today to protest the plans during a rally outside Ottawa City Hall.

Any future changes must first be approved by the provincial government.

The rally starts at 12:30pm.
