Over 8 million dollars will be coming to the North as the province attempts to prevent youth violence across Ontario.

Through the Enhanced Youth Action Plan, Northern Ontario will receive 6 million dollars for programs that assist with at risk youth to bid on, and 2.35 million dollars will go to seven youth programs in Sudbury.

Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault says it’s about building up local programs.

Thibeault says the program was such a hit in Toronto the province decided to implement it throughout Ontario.

As part of Ontario’s new Enhanced Youth Action Plan, Sudbury was identified as one of six areas of the province that need support the most.

Thibeault says programs will have until September 9th to apply for a piece of the 6 million, while the seven local programs will have the funding in play by October.
