Vale’s $1-billion Clean AER project has taken another huge step forward.

The second of three 100 tonne converters was delivered to the Copper Cliff Smelter Tuesday and will be installed during the current maintenance period.

Vale’s Manager of Corporate Affairs Angie Robson says the project will see sulphur dioxide emission reduced by 85%, dust and metals by up to 40% and greenhouse gas emissions by 40%.

The converters are being constructed by Anmar in Lively.
