There is a large forest fire, north of Sudbury, that is not yet under control.

Fire crews from the Ministry of Natural Resources continue to attack it by land and air.

The fire dubbed Sudbury 38, is east of Highway 144 and has grown to 438-hectares.

Friday afternoon, the MNR issued an Emergency Area Order for the area northeast of Halfway Lake Provincial Park.

This includes road closures and travel restrictions, as Fire Rangers work to suppress the flames.

The base camp for this operation is now near Johnson Lake.

The fire hazard for Greater Sudbury is currently listed at moderate.
