Pet Save

One Pet Save volunteer recently came back from Mexico with a souvenir, but it wasn’t a t-shirt or a keychain, it was a Chihuahua.

The volunteer asked Director of Pet Save, Jill Pessot if they could find a home for the dog, which then led to Pet Save rescuing nearly 20 dogs.

The dogs came from Barb’s Dog Rescue in Puerto Penasco, a region where many dogs live on the streets and are forced to be put down.

Pessot says this does not effect the rescue service here in Sudbury.

This is the first time Pet Save has tried such an operation and adoption fees are sent back to Barb’s Dog Rescue in Mexico where, for every one adoption here, three animals can be saved there.

Pet Save will make another trip to Mexico in August, and will continue until the demand for smaller dogs decreases in the North.
