Greater Sudbury Police laid assault charges on a male after an incident with EMS and police on Saturday.

Police were called to Bancroft Drive after EMS were trying to assist a combative intoxicated man, when he spit in the face of a paramedic and on the leg of another.

When police tried to intervene the man then spit in the face of an officer.

He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of assault and one count of assaulting a police officer.

The paramedics and officer were not injured but went through mandatory testing at the hospital to rule out any transferable diseases.
