Greater Sudbury Police are investigating after human remains were found in Junction Creek.

Police say that a local resident found the remains around 6:30 pm and it’s too early to tell cause of death or the identity of the victim.

Sgt. Craig Maki says police were assisting the coroners investigation.

Maki says an autopsy is expected to be performed today which will shed more light to the situation.

Around 12 pm the remains were being pulled from the creek near the intersection of Regent Street and McLeod Street, if it turns out to be a homicide case, GSPS will take the investigation over.

At this time Maki is asking for anyone with information to call crime stoppers.
