If you plan to spruce up your yard in the coming weeks, you should know the City of Greater Sudbury is changing its curb-side pick-up of that compostable waste.

Starting July 1st any leaf and yard trimmings picked up in residential areas should be bundled in compostable paper bags…not plastic bags.

That change will also be in effect for landfill sites, starting September 1st.

The city says this will bring the collection more in line with modern practices.

This includes grass cuttings, weeds, dead leaves, twigs, brush and other yard trimmings which can be composted.
