Sudbury has made a Top 10 list for Life Satisfaction.

Actually, we came in 4th out of 33 cities from across the country.

Statistics Canada looked at data from 2009 to 2013 to compile the list.

The number one community where citizens were the most satisfied with their life was Saguenay, Quebec, followed by Trois-Rivieres (Quebec) and St John’s, Newfoundland.

Not only did Sudbury rank #4 on the list, but our city had the highest percentage of residents rating their life satisfaction with either 9 or 10 out of 10.

Thunder Bay was the only other Northern Ontario community to make the top ten, coming in at #8.

At the bottom of the list was Vancouver, Toronto and Windsor.

The report didn’t look for reasons for life satisfaction, but researchers found those who responded with higher life satisfaction ratings lived in areas with a population under 250,000, suggesting residents are happier living in smaller communities.

The Top 10 List of Cities with High Life-Satisfaction are:
1. Saguenay
2. Trois-Rivieres
3. St. John’s (Newfoundland)
4. Greater Sudbury
5. Quebec City
6. Saint John (New Brunswick)
7. Sherbrooke
8. Thunder Bay
9. Moncton
10. Ottawa-Hull
