A coroner’s inquest into the deaths of two miners at Vale’s Stobie Mine gets underway Monday.

Jordan Fram and Jason Chenier were killed in June 2011 by a run of muck while working at the 3,000 ft.level.

Ten days have been set aside for the inquest that will be looking for recommendations aimed at preventing future tragedies.

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ministry of Labour laid 15 charges against Vale and a supervisor.

The mining giant plead guilty to three charges and was fined 1.3 million dollars.

Just last week, a mining review by the Ministry of Labour came up with eighteen recommendations to improve health and safety in mines across the province.
