The slow start to the spring runoff has been given a big push by mother nature…with the rain and warm temperatures today.

Conservation Sudbury (also known as Nickel District Conservation Authority) issued a Watershed Condition Statement for Water Safety.

Water levels and flows continue to increase gradually on local waterways.

The ground is still frozen to the precipitation and melting snowpack is going into the streams instead of being absorbed into the soil.

Conservation Sudbury and its partners are monitoring the situation.

They warn people to stay away from creek and river banks as they could be slippery, and the water is very cold and fast-flowing.
